OC Weekly: FOOD (By Edwin Goei)
While Thai and Vietnamese cuisine have been mainstreamed into the American food scene, Indonesian cooking remains in abject obscurity, especially in Orange County. Even Filipino food, which is just as underrated, has better representation here with a handful of turo-turo joints. Indonesian food, on the other hand, is the Rodney Dangerfield of Asian cuisines—it gets no respect ...

Monster Munching (By Edwin Goei)
When Asian Deli skedaddled to Diamond Bar a few years ago, it left Orange County deprived of its only Indonesian restaurant. The nearest alternative for hungry expats existed just beyond the Orange County line, at Toko Rame in Bellflower. Meanwhile, in O.C., Indonesian food remained the Rodney Dangerfield of Asian cuisine. It gets no respect ...

Learned about this place via Monster Munching blog and I had to check it out since it was so close to my work and I was still off a high from eating a really GOOD Burmese salad a friend of mines had made, so I was craving Southeast Asian food. And I needed food that wasn't bland and I needed to be pleased ...

Jakarta native Erisa Bong opened this Indonesian corner (pojok) café (warung) on August 1 with chef/aunt Ibu Ginting, who hails from Sumatra. The former Chinese restaurant is situated in a Garden Grove strip mall, sandwiched between a Chuck E. Cheese’s and Latin record store. Little Saigon has dozens of interesting restaurants, but only Warung Pojok specializes in Indonesian food. Singularity isn’t reason enough to visit Warung Pojok, but the bold flavors and remarkable ... Please click here to read more from FoodGPS.com

The "Pepes Teri" was the best, no one can beat it and I was a little disappointed I didn't get more the other day. Maybe next time :)

I live here in Orange County - I don't have my family here and have no Indonesian friends. Since Warung Pojok opened, everytime I feel that I miss home, I just go there and it feels like right at home... =)

Today we drove from San Diego to specifically eat at your restaurant and we were happy that we made the drive. It was totally worth it! Superb food! As close to Indonesian home cooking as we can get. Please open a branch down here in North County, San Diego... I think you will get lots of customers down here also! :) Thank you for the great Indo food that I missed sooo much...Sincerely
Patty
Whenever I visit my parents, who live in Garden Grove, we go to your restaurant. I've never get tired of your food; it is simply some of the best Indonesian food I've ever tasted. In addition, I like that the menu changes periodically so that I can sample the different dishes. I was at your restaurant today with my parents, John and Hetty, and we all LOVED the sate ayam met lontong! My parents are coming back tomorrow with my brother, since he, too, loves Indo food and I know he'll love your sate! Keep it up and you'll outgrow your tiny place! I will spread the word about your wonderful cooking!!! |
